Comcast: How to Make a Bad First Impression
I try my best to appreciate usability outside the world of web technology. Â One of my frequent fascinations is the lack of thought applied to entrances.
The visual affordance of the door says to me “pull”. Â Handles are meant to be grabbed. Â Yet one of the doors can only be pushed. Â What’s worse is that it’s the right door, which is usually the one people go to first to enter a building (due to the US driving preference). Â So I have to imagine it catches a number of people off-guard everyday.
Please don’t follow this example. Â Make your customers and users feel smart by not upsetting their world view, even at this level.

LOL… my eye was drawn to the bizarre customer service hours. So let me see if I’ve got this right: Weekdays you’re open from 9 AM to 6 PM, but every third Thursday you’re only open for one fleeting instant at 11 AM?

Yup, that seems to be par for the course. I’d normally just call them up, but I was hoping they had the box I needed right then and there. I was mistaken…
